Dear Fellows,
As we prepare for the retreat on October 22nd, I invite you to look over the agenda recently finalized on the retreat website. This agenda is due to the work of the NICHD retreat planning team, which is composed of eight fellows of varying training levels. I want to extend my thanks to these eight members. Their leadership and service were instrumental to a smooth and successful planning process. While the primary purpose of this team is to organize the retreat, I would like to emphasize that fellows-led planning teams like this one provide a valuable platform for NICHD fellows to gain experiential leadership skills by completing a defined project—without taking too much time away from their research. I encourage any fellow interested in developing their leadership abilities to reach out to me to explore similar opportunities.
I hope you enjoy this issue! From mentoring to scientific research, the pages of this issue are filled with work from fellows destined to lead in their respective fields. Many thanks to the fellows who’ve submitted abstracts and poster information for the retreat. We look forward to coming together on October 22nd!
